Leland
One of North Carolina’s fastest-growing towns, Leland is the most populous city in Brunswick county. Named after the nephew of the town’s first Postmaster, Leland was built at the convergence of three rail lines. That, and its close proximity to the Brunswick River made Leland an early epicenter for transportation. Officially incorporated in 1989, Leland has seen a huge boost in population, nearly doubling since the 2010 census, and is today just as centrally located as its inception. Only 5 miles from Wilmington, and all the history and entertainment it offers, Leland is also just a short distance to the South Carolina border and only 71 miles from the vacation destination of Myrtle Beach.
